Sign the Petition to Clean Up the Consumer Products Safety Commission
A few weeks back I wrote a syndicated column about how the Bush-appointed head of the Consumer Products Safety Commission, Nancy Nord, is trying to block Democratic legislation to strengthen her agency so that our government does a better job of protecting consumers from dangerous, toxic imports. Nord has been in the news lately after reporters found that she has been taking lavish trips paid for by the very manufacturing industries she's supposed to be regulating - not surprising (considering before getting her government job, she worked at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce).
Now, in the wake of CAF's report about lead-soaked products in our stores, many Democrats are calling for Nord's resignation, and the Campaign for America's Future is trying to back up those calls with voices from the public. Please go here and sign a national petition demanding Nord resign - and make sure to watch the short Ken & Barbie video discussing the problem of toxic imports above.

Discussion
The best way to clean the commission is to ABOLISH it. That agency never served its purpose since both parties would happily place corporatist puppets in that agency.
