"Here's A Novel Concept for Congress: Do something. Anything. Move."
The New York Times reports that my old boss, Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) of Montana, will be appearing in a nationwide ad with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) and Utah Gov. John Huntsman (R) demanding Congress begin taking concrete steps to address global warming. The ad is sponsored by Environmental Defense. This is good news - and I just love Schweitzer's comment to the Times:
Governor Schweitzer said dealing with global warming was the "greatest imperative" of this and future generations. "We need to find a sustainable, renewable American energy supply so we will not commit the next generation to fight another oil war," he said.
Mr. Schweitzer added: "Here's a novel concept for Congress. Do something. Anything. Move."
They don't call him quotable for nothin'.

Discussion
On the issue of the environment, I don't trust any of these governors. Schweitzer supports the DISASTEROUS coal-gas conversion which requires loads of petroleum to begin with. Arnold VETOED a pro-hemp bill and is still in bed with Big Oil/Energy. Utah governor? An environmentalist? BIG JOKE ! As for telling Congress to move that's not a problem. It's just that they're doing it in the WRONG direction !!
and I hope he runs for Prez someday. He's one of the few elected Dems who have a spine.
Is there anyone in Montana who supports the idea of hemp for fuel and can pass it on to Schweitzer. The tragedies in WV are already heartbreaking and the last thing I or the Montanans would want to see are the potential for the same kind of tragedies due to excess coal mining.
