Edwards On the Invisible Culture of Corruption

John Edwards becomes the first presidential candidate to talk openly about the invisible culture of corruption that is plaguing Washington when it comes to trade policy. Here is his statement from today:

"The fact that the Peru trade deal is supported by a bipartisan group of insiders, including George Bush and senior officials from the first Clinton Administration - many of whom are now lobbyists, corporate lawyers, and business consultants - should be proof-positive of why members of Congress should join with me and oppose this deal. The benefit to corporate lobbyists from both sides of the political aisle will come only at the expense of hard-working families."

Here is my recent newspaper column outlining who exactly those insiders are.

Too little too late. Kucinich already spoke out on corruption and "free" trade but who the hell was listening back when it counted the most? Edwards voted in favor of China PNTR and to this day has made no promises to push to cancel that sham "deal". Besides, Edwards gets all his money from the hedge funds goons. He still has a long ways to go before he'll get my vote.

    Nate, I pretty much agree.

Edwards' illumination on issues like trade, corruption and Iraq have been too little and too late.

His opinion on whether illegal immigration contributes to wage corrosion:

    "The jury is still out".

Kucinich beat him to the punch a long time ago. All Edwards is doing is jumping on the bandwagon.

Edward's is still silent on the H1-B and L-1 guest visa worker programs and thats scary. But then again he's been taking loads of money from Silicon valley execs who have a vested interest in reducing wages.

He still won't revoke NAFTA and this another bad sign.

I'm really not to sure if he's another faux populist like Webb and Tester or the real thing. But given his work for hedge funds and voting record and his stance on imported workers I'd wager he's no FDR.
