Only Dem to Lose Claims to Be Expert On How Dems Can Win
Harold Ford was the only top-tier Democratic candidate to lose a major election in 2006, and yet as the chairman of the corporate-funded Democratic Leadership Council, he is running around telling everyone how to win elections. He's also pushing to raise the Social Security retirement age, and claiming that populists like Jon Tester (D-MT) and Jim Webb (D-VA) actually ran DLC-style campaigns sucking up to corporations (like, say, Merrill Lynch, where Ford is currently a vice president). No really - I'm not kidding. See this Newsweek interview for what I'm talking about.

Discussion
The Democratic LOSERship Council was always designed to keep the party in LOSER status and Harold Ford pretty much fits the Clintonian mold. Unfortunately, even populists like Tester and Webb are not standing up to the DLC or they wouldn't be allowing the sellouts in the party to WEAKEN them !
What did you expect from him, the truth? the truth that his DLC campaign strategy destroyed his political future.
Personally I don't think he wanted to win, he just wanted to get on the corporate gravy train which pays a lot better. And what better way to do that than to suck up to the DLC?
There needs to be a concerted campaign to NOT contribute to the DNC/DLC until losers like Harold Ford are out of there.
Until the voters speak up, and refuse to go along with the machinations of the DNC/DLC Republi-lites and their corporate butt-kissing, by witholding funding from the DNC/DLC and the Republi-lite candidates, the Democratic party will have these problems.
These losers have split the party and have given it a reputation for being wishy washy and no better than the Republicans, when in reality it's the bad apples that are giving the barrel a bad name.
David,
You gotta love the exchange over Hillary Clinton.
Bartholet: Does Hillary Clinton still have a formal role at the DLC?
Ford: No
Pretty Straight forward.
Bartholet: She's still listed on your Web site as part of the DLC leadership team.
Ford: Right. But you can't have a formal role and still run for president with the DLC. You can be on various committees, but you can't have a formal role, no.
OK...She does not have a "formal role" because you can't have a "formal role" and still run for president....so she has an "informal role" as part of the "Leasdership Team?" Getting dizzy.....
Bartholet: Right. That's why I was wondering, because it looks like an endorsement in a way … I'm just going to read to you here [from the DLC Web site]. It says, "DLC Leadership Team." Leaders: Harold Ford Jr., Tom Carper, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Jennifer Mann, Michael Coleman. That's the list.
Ford: Because they are vice chairs of the organization.
Bartholet: So Hillary Clinton is a vice chair of the organization?
Ford: No. Tom Carper is.
Because THEY are vice chairs (oops - vice chair might sound too "formal") They = Tom Carper. Poor Harold had to make himself dizzy with that much spin.
Peace,
