An Attempt at Dividing vs. An Attempt at Uniting
One of the most interesting interactions at tonight's GOP presidential debate was over the issue of abortion. Notice in the YouTube clip above how Mitt Romney uses a question about abortion to try to polarize the debate as much as possible, saying that while Republicans "would love to have an America where we didn't have abortion but the truth of the matter is that's not where America is right now." Now, while the country may be somewhat divided over whether women should have the right to CHOOSE whether to have an abortion or not, I have seen no evidence to suggest that the country is divided over whether we WANT to have a country with as few abortions as possible. In fact, it's fair to say that the vast majority of Americans - including those of us who strongly support a woman's right to choose - "would love to have an America where we didn't have abortion" because, after all, no one WANTS to have an abortion. Those of us who are pro-choice would love to have that kind of America - as long as it was the result of women having the right to choose.
But Romney (who ran for governor of Massachusetts insisting he is pro-choice) is now so desperate to play to the Republican base, he's willing to make outrageous statements like this that seek to create national divisions where there aren't any.
By contrast, watch former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) answer the same question. While he notes his own anti-choice positions (which I strongly disagree with), he focuses far more on how we need to look at all aspects of life (poverty, health care, etc.) when discussing the question of life. This is a much more unifying and less answer, and he should be applauded for trying to put at least some of the focus there.

The GOP "conservatives" are nothing but pro-before-life assholes. Once born, all their policies are nothing but pro-DEATH. As for the issue of abortion, here's a better way to deal with it.
THE DIRTY SECRETS ABOUT ABORTION
Unfortunately, like everything else, the GOP is AGAINST any safe version of anything, period. All they are hell bent on doing is creating more ILLEGAL "abortions". Too bad the "Democrats" are going on the offensive on safety first on issues such as these.
Correction, I meant to say
Too bad the "Democrats" are NOT going on the offensive on safety first on issues such as these.
Its a wedge issue the GOP uses to get votes and terrify the Democrats, but the GOP has no intention on banning abortion. The GOP is smart enough to realize that they need the support of evangelicals to keep what little power they have left. And if they did by hook or crook ban abortion the evangelicals would no longer have a reason to vote GOP anymore and bye bye GOP as a party.
Its a game like most of politics and we're the marks.
I don't watch the Republican debates, it's a waste of time, they are all disgusting lying thieving hypocrites, money changers and blaspheming heretics..!
May God have mercy on their souls..!
Simple as that..!
None of the presidential debates of either side are worth watching. Both groups have to lie out their collective asses off in order to get elected.
Its a well known fact voters will not vote for anyone who tells the truth, as a result successful pols have to be accomplished liars in order to win public office.
Its a pathetic commentary on Americans that they prefer good liars and floor flushers over honest people.
