    Moving to Denver

Some personal news in my neck of the woods that I wanted to share with readers: Me, my wife and my dog Monty will be moving to Denver, Colorado from Helena, Montana in about 2-3 weeks. I'm simultaneously bummed about leaving Montana, but psyched to be staying in the Great American West and to be going to such a great city. In case you thought our move had something to do with Denver being the site of the Democratic convention, I'm happy to inform you that our reasons are much more mundane, but also much more significant for us personally. We're moving to be closer to family and for job stuff (we started making plans to move to the Mile High City well before they ever announced the convention would be taking place there). My brother and his soon-to-be wife live down in Denver, and my wife Emily is going to be attending the University of Denver's social work school.

I'm really going to be sad to leave all the people in Montana we've become so close to (I'll probably see many of you in the next few weeks to say goodbye before we go), and to leave a state that is so incredibly wonderful. I'd never dare call myself a "Montanan" because I've learned to do that with any legitimacy requires being about a 6th or 7th generation Montanan. But I will say that living in Montana has made an indelible mark on my life in so many different ways. Folks in the state (save for the staff at the Montana Republican Party and one or two deranged Republican legislators) really welcomed us with open arms, and that really made the experience of living in Montana that much more terrific.

As I said, I'm really bummed we're moving, but I am also thrilled we're staying in the West, that we'll only be a short ways away from Big Sky country, and that we're moving to as great a place as Denver. I was sorry to see that the Colorado Republican Party is now headed by Dick Wadhams, who I worked against when he ran then-Montana Sen. Conrad Burns' reelection race against Brian Schweitzer. But hell - that'll just make politics in our new home that much more interesting, I guess.

    Life's an adventure - onward!

P.S. I'll be over in Missoula on June 6th for an event with Forward Montana - so if you are around, come on by to say hello and goodbye.

P.P.S. I'll be continuing to blog continually during the move, with only a few minor breaks - so this site won't change. That said, I should have some pretty big career news in the next few weeks and months, too...stay tuned.

I usually am only a reader and do not comment much. But I have to weigh in on this. We moved up here from Boulder 25 years ago. We lived there for 10 years. I love Colorado and know you will enjoy it there too. There is just too many people there now. I am not a big city person. All I ask is that you keep up the wonderful work you are doing and keep the information coming. Thanks for all you are doing for us!

If we ever leave Montana, my wife and I (been here 16 years), we will know we were better for it having lived here. I hope you can do some good in Colorado as you did here in Montana helping Schweitzer. Too bad you never made it to the eastern part of the state. (Or maybe you did and chose not to say anything...)

Well let me give you an early Welcome to Colorado! I'm originally from Absarokee Montana (if you don’t know where it is its ok, It’s a town of about 2000 between Billings and the Beartooth mountains) and lived in Missoula for a little while before moving to Denver myself in 2003. Well I hope the big city treats you well and maybe I will see you at some of the Colorado events. Good luck with the packing!

Congratulations! I love Denver, but have a special fondness for nearby Boulder, as well. Glad to hear that you'll be keeping the site as is. Whatever your upcoming plans are, there sure to be beneficial to us all.

Thanks for all the great work you do. Hope to see you in Atlanta real soon.

Welcome to Colorado! This is welcome news and there is a strong on-line progressive community which will enjoy your presence. (ColoradoPols)

I live in southern CO, west of the Royal Gorge, so don't get to Denver much (unless forced to). My wife is a big fan of yours from Air America which is how I learned of your activities.

Please also check out Colorado Media Matters (http://colorado.mediamatters.org), the first state-based project of Media Matters for America. Conservative misinformation is alive and well in Colorado media; we're working to change that!
