First Vote of the New Congress on Global Warming
Just a skirmish, really, but it is good news that Rep. Waxman got 25 votes to Rep. Dingell's 22 votes in the Democratic steering committee vote today. The full caucus is supposed to vote on Thursday to determine who will chair the pivotal House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Dingell has dedicated his career to delaying progress in the auto industry. So long as he chairs the committee, the odds are stacked against serious efforts to slow the climate crisis.
If you live in a district represented by a Democratic member of the House, call, email or otherwise contact them and tell them that you care about global warming, and expect a vote for Waxman.
