Off to Desolation

Every once in a very long while I have to unplug and go visit one of those special places worth fighting for, so I will be backpacking with my daughter in Desolation Wilderness for the next few days. Desolation is simultaneously the most crowded wilderness around, an oxymoron to be sure, but also one of the most beautiful in spite of its rather bleak name.

Anyone else have a special place they go to recharge?
