Honestly, this was a bad week

I hope it was better for you.

First, Obama abandoned his pledge to filibuster retroactive telecom immunity. Mr. Bush signed his expanded wiretapping bill this week, particularly thanking Steny Hoyer and Jay Rockefeller, leading Democrats, for arranging the cave in which was then supported by Obama.

Then, suicide bombings by the Taliban and misguided bombings by U.S. forces in Afghanistan combined to kill hundreds as that poor country finally started to draw a bit of media attention and the Pentagon said it has no more troops to send.

Finally, this afternoon, the Republican-dominated U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. overturned the one promising air pollution regulation that ever came out of the Bush Administration - one which would reduce pollution from utilities, including the really damaging chemical mercury.

Time to go home, have a Dr. Pepper, and keep fighting next week.

I say it is time to start a new party for the 2010 election. How about the progressive party? Let's steal Kucinich, Dodd, Bingamon, and others who defend the constitution and drop the rest. It is time to replace both parties.

Honestly, this has been a bad week for me, too. I just learned that Working Assets has a working relationship with Bank of America. Bank of America has a working relationship with Massey Energy and Arch Coal, lending them nearly $1 Billion to facilitate their destructive practice of mountaintop removal coal mining. How can you, Mr. Kieschnick, urge your members to "Tell the Power Companies: Invest in Clean Power, Not Coal," while, in the same breath, you are SUPPORTING coal? Before I cancel my Working Assets credit card, I'd like to hear what you have to say.
