Flight of Fancy
So you thought that government funds allocated to the air force for counter terrorism operations actually went to fighting Al Quaeda? Well not quite all.
According to an article in a recent Washington Post (read full article here) at least four ranking generals have been involved in the absurdly named Project SLICC, or Senior Leader Intransit Comfort Capsules. Like first time homeowners on HGTV, they have spent tax payer funded time designing the two-room luxury pods made to be constructed in the fuselage of military aircraft for use by top brass and their VIP guests. Worse, according to one report, they want permission from Congress to pay for these excesses from $16 million in counter-terrorism funds.
The Washington Post credits Project on Government Oversight (POGO) - a group featured on Working Assets/CREDO 2008 donations ballot - for the investigation of this folly, and for providing the Post with information in the form of independently authenticated emails.
