Women Are Still A Target
You'd think on Valentine's Day we'd show a little love.
Yet some folks choose to honor this day by throwing love aside and making statements and taking actions that objectify, diminish and attack women.
From Think Progress: a Tennessee State Senator's musings on how "rape" has changed over the years:
Rape, ladies and gentlemen, is not today what rape was. Rape, when I was learning these things, was the violation of a chaste woman, against her will, by some party not her spouse. Today it's simply, "Let's don't go forward with this act."
And that's from a Democrat...yup...
Meanwhile, President Bush puts forward a nominee for a lifetime federal judge appointment who considers it part of his life work to oppose women's rights to make their own decisions. Nothing says "I love you" like stripping away your privacy, your self-determination and your rights.
That's why CREDO members are joining together to tell the Senate to block Honaker's nomination. We can't control what people like the troll from Tennessee think or say, but we can control our our government behaves.
