President Bush's decision to make a generally non-controversial selection to replace Gonzales either speaks to a genuine desire for comity, or maybe a recognition that his lame duckness wouldn't have allowed him to get away with anything more.

Aw, who am I kidding - we all know it was the latter. Either way, an example of the nice rare untaken opportunity by this crew to mess up royally.
