Cleavage-Gate Continued
You may remember that earlier this week I wrote how Ms. Magazine asked its readers to speak out to The Washington Post about a fatuous fashion piece on Hillary Clinton’s cleavage.
Now Hillary Clinton’s fundraising team has jumped on the story after seeing its impact on women readers around the country who saw a candidate reduced to her body parts. Hillary Clinton, c’est moi.
The Washington Post's blog quoted author Robin Givhan defending her piece with this explanation:
It was a piece about a public person's appearance on the Senate floor that was surprising because of the location and because of the person. It's disingenuous to think that revealing cleavage, any amount of it, in that kind of situation is a non-issue.
You know, she’s right. Having the chutzpah to show up on the Senate floor wearing a shirt, what complete gall. I'm so glad Givhan called our attention to this situation. I mean, really, Givhan makes it sound like Clinton's top was something more appropriate for work on the street, not the Senate.
Not only that, Givhan was so horrified by Clinton’s appearance, she described it as “catching a man with his fly unzipped. Just look away!”
Well, I hope readers will take her advice and when it comes to Givhan's column, and also look away.
