Somehow, Bill O'McCarthy Forgets His Paycheck Is Signed By a Billionaire Political Activist

Another note that once again begs questions about whether the professional right-wing political class has gone totally insane: Does Bill O'Reilly realize his paycheck is signed by Rupert Murdoch? Because I really don't comprehend how a person like him whose multimillion-dollar paycheck is signed by Rupert Murdoch (a billionaire who funds major political causes) can get up in front of a camera and perform a hysterical Joe McCarthy-esque rant against the concept of a billionaire spending money on political causes. Doing such a thing, while simultaneously pocketing a multi-million dollar paycheck from a billionaire political activist, seems to me to be a tell-tale sign that said person - in this case, O'Reilly - has lost all touch with the planet he exists on, and has gone certifiably insane.

Billo is just exploiting the peoples fear of the rich directly interfering with our political system, especially a rich foreigner.

The problem is a lot of liberals are looking for a sugar daddy to save the day and don't realize how bad it makes them when they put out their begging bowls, especially to foreigners. And there's some ugly implicit messages created by this which the GOP exploits.

Personally I think liberals don't need a sugar daddy if they have attractive candidates with populist platforms, because it wins elections as shown in '06. However a lot of liberals still think that sugar daddy/santa claus will fix the problems of the Democratic party and kick the GOP's ass.

The thing is the Democrats don't suffer from a money problem, they suffer from some serious infrastructure problems IMO that really hamstring reforming the party.

That said, of course Billo doesn't explain his being bankrolled by what amounts to a GOP heavy hitter and billionaire. His job is to spew bullshit and misdirect Fox viewers, like any good propagandist.

    O'Reilly as liberal???
Come on, this is just too bizarre!
What's Faux..er Fox News doing? Putting out feelers to see if changing the slant of their bias is going to boost ratings? After all, the American Public is getting pretty fed up with right-wing BS.
As the James Fallows article you quoted states, Murdock doesn't care as much about ideology as he does about the bottom line.
He doesn't care what Fox says as long as the money rolls in. I doubt if O'Reilly would have said anything liberal-leaning, if it wasn't approved from the top.

I have never understood why liberal and progressive journalists have not exploited the foreign owned aspect of FOX news. Personally, I never mention FOX news without the tag 'foreign owned'. Not only are many FOX listeners completely unaware of this but are in denial and have to be shown that Murdoch is indeed not American.

If the situation was reversed and a liberal/progressive media outlet was foreign owned you can be guaranteed that Billo and comics like Rush Limbaugh would never let their listeners forget such a danger to American press.
