Honoring a Progressive Hero

When Maria Leavey -- a tireless progressive organizer, contributor, advisor and partner -- passed away several months ago, many members of the progressive movement saw that not only had they lost a friend, but they had lost a chance to thank a person whose behind-the-scenes work had often gone unrecognized.

Maria is now being recognized in away that not only honors her, but honors others whose efforts may be out of the headlines and below the rad, but support and sustain so many of our projects and organizations.

The Campaign for America's Future has launched the Maria Leavey Tribute Award "to honor an unsung hero of the progressive movement whose behind-the-scenes work and selfless service made a big contribution to social justice."
